Trades Assistant - Laverton

About the role

Reporting to our Laverton Service Manager, you’ll be based in our busy Laverton branch where the focus is on our industry leading On-Highway engine product range. You’ll work alongside experienced Diesel Mechanics conducting routine servicing and preventive maintenance tasks in your first 6 months. After mastering the trade assistant tasks you’ll have the opportunity to move into a heavy diesel technician role. 

• Provide support to diesel technicians, honing your heavy engine experience
• Routine servicing and smaller diesel engine repair tasks
• Other general labour work duties as required
• Have strong team orientation and a desire to create the right work environment
• Proactively seek out tasks, picking up new skills and tasks quickly
• Participate in a Monday to Friday rotating roster (day shift @ 7am - 3pm & afternoon shift @ 2pm - 10pm) and rotating Saturday roster 8am - 12pm every 3^rd Saturday

Once you move into a Diesel Mechanic role you will also;

• Carry out preventative maintenance tasks, diagnose, troubleshoot any repair engine sub-systems
• Troubleshoot and test using chassis dyno

About you

• A light automotive, diesel fitter, mechanical fitter OR similar mechanical qualification at Cert 2 or Cert 3 level is essential
• Have proven workshop experience with strong preventative maintenance skills
• Previous experience with diesel engines is advantageous but not required 
• Have a proactive approach to your work with the ability to adapt and desire to learn
• A “do things right the first-time attitude” following systems/procedures with a strong focus on safety
• Have an engaging work approach and customer service focus
