WORKSHOP SUPERVISOR

Thermo King Rail Australia is a long established and prominent Australian company, based in Altona Victoria with State-Wide operations involved in the service/overhaul/regeneration and sales of Refrigeration and HVAC+R equipment for the Transport/Rail industry.

We are currently seeking a highly motivated Workshop Supervisor to join our Rail team in NSW

The successful candidate will need to work closely and cooperatively with the workshop team as well as the Department and Project Managers to ensure that internal and external customers receive the highest quality service. 

The successful candidate will be a personable well organised and computer literate person who has particular attention to detail.  A suitable salary package will be negotiated with the right applicant based on experience.

Reporting to the Rail Manager, the emphasis of this role includes all planning, organising, and then controlling the production/overhaul of HVAC units through the internal operations of the company to the point of delivery of the finished product, on time and at minimal cost. You will have strong people management and leadership skills with particular attention to detail and quality; with exceptional communication, negotiation, organizational, analytical and strategic skills and computer literacy skills to support our growing business.

 

PRINCIPLE ACCOUNTABILITIES

Shall include: -

Maintaining work flow by scheduling and monitoring the various work tasks, monitoring personnel and resources, facilitating corrections within processes where required and fostering a spirit of cooperation within and between departments.

Maintaining a high quality standard through establishing and enforcing company guidelines and standards in a safe and clean work environment.

Resolving personnel problems by investigating issues, identifying solutions and recommending actions.

Manage the day to day performance of all personnel who are direct reports to you and, in conjunction with Human Resources when appropriate, ensure that they have the necessary training, resources and authority to undertake tasks assigned to them in a safe manner. 

Make recommendations to the Manager regarding further training requirements and remuneration of your staff where appropriate.

Ensure all Department processes, procedures and activities are recorded and that ongoing reviews and corrective actions are performed to ensure the Department is improving continuously.

Be aware of, and comply with, obligations in regards to relevant legislation, ISO and ethical standards. 

The successful applicant will also have the following Key skills –

  • Good computer skills/knowledge with Microsoft Office
  • Previous experience with Navision ERP system an advantage
  • Good interpersonal skills
  • Trade or technical background in HVAC preferred 
  • Must hold a current NSW Drivers Licence
