The opportunity

Partnered with our client, we are looking for a motivated go-getter looking to kick-start their career as a Heavy Commercial Trailer Apprentice. Over this 4 year Apprenticeship, you will also be completing your theory coursework in a digital delivery mode, working toward a Certificate III in Automotive – Heavy Commercial Trailer Technology (AUR31816). On a day-to-day basis, your main responsibilities will include:

  • Building and fitting out trailers
  • Hydraulic work
  • Pneumatics
  • Wheel aligning and tyre fitting

Our client designs and builds many different types of trailers. You would be involved in building and fitting out A-trailers, dollies, tilt n slides, truck transporters, drop decks, flat top extendables, low loaders, jinkers, truck transporters and customer built trailers.

Who we’re looking for

We are looking for someone who has excellent attention to detail, mechanical aptitude and the ability to meet deadlines with high energy and enthusiasm. You’ll need to be able to work independently, but be able to follow instructions and also show initiative (that means keeping the workshop clean before being asked to clean it up).

In addition to these qualities, you will possess the following requirements:

  • Certificate II in Automotive or some work experience in this area
  • Current drivers licence with reliable transport
  • Have excellent attention to detail and communication skills
  • Enjoy hard work and have good motor skills
  • Be able to work efficiently independently and as part of a team
  • Be reliable for full-time working hours Monday to Friday including every second Saturday
  • Be committed to completing and passing all practical and theory-based study requirements of a traineeship
