The Langham, Melbourne currently has an exciting opportunity available for a full-time Carpenter/Joiner Shift Engineer to join our Engineering Team. Ideally Trade Qualified as Carpenter / Joiner.

You will have the opportunity to work with the Engineering team which consists of approximately 15 colleagues. This is an exciting opportunity for you to grow your hotel skill set in order to build a career with-in The Langham, shall you be determined and dedicated.

This position is an integral part of a high performing hotel team, and a key contributor to the hotel's ongoing success.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Your responsibilities will be those of a Shift Engineer involving the continual maintenance of our Ken Fix It (KFI) programme in our Public Areas & Guest Rooms.
• To carry out inspection and routine maintenance of all guest levels including doors, door frames, corridor walls and ceilings and all guest room furniture, fixtures, fittings.
• To carry out inspection and routine maintenance of all remaining Hotel areas including all external fixtures.
• To carry out other duties as directed by the Engineering & Compliance Officer, Assistant Chief Engineer or Director of Engineering.
• Ensure workshops and machinery are maintained in a clean and tidy condition.

  For this role, your attributes will be inclusive of the following:

• Previous experience in a similar environment
• Formal Joinery or Carpentry qualification
• Attention to detail
• Proven experience in working to tight deadlines
• Ability to work well un-supervised
• Available to work across a rotating roster involving weekends
• As you will have a high level of guest contact, you will require excellent presentation and communication skills.
• The successful candidate will be available to work rotating shifts and work in accordance with our Enterprise Agreement.
