The Royal Canberra Golf Club is seeking to employ an experienced, assistant arborist to help us in the maintenance and projects being undertaken at the Club's site in the Westbourne Woods Arboretum, Yarralumla.
The Westbourne Woods was established in 1914 to assist in the assessment of tree species for the nation's new capital city, Canberra. Tree species were planted by Thomas Weston following parliamentary approval in June 1914. Most of the original plantings remain in the Woods with a tree management plan recently being implemented by the Club and the National Capital Authority to ensure the long term integrity of this heritage site remains.
This position would suit an individual with a passion for quality workmanship and includes the removal of trees, pruning and dead wooding of existing trees within the Westbourne Woods Tree Management Plan.
The successful applicant will poses:

Valid chainsaw certification

Good climbing skills

Be able to work in a large team environment

Be prepared to work some overtime

Be prepared to carry out some greenkeeping tasks from time to time

Elevated work platform and Loader/Backhoe certification (not essential)
