About the business

TADQ is a not-for-profit organisation that designs, creates and builds customised assistive technology solutions for children and adults.  One of our unique services includes a customised bike program.  The Freedom Wheels service adapts and customises standard bikes to suit the needs of the individual child as each child has their own set of skills and abilities.  We can provide the extra supports they need to ride a bike with their friends and family.   Our customisations include sturdy stabilisers that provide support for balance, customised seats, handlebar and pedals as well as include hip and chest supports offering a holistic approach to bike riding.

About the role

We are seeking a skilled bicycle technician or enthusiast to join our small dedicated team.  The role is a permanent part time position working from 16 - 21 hours per week with the potential to increase.

Working from our Banyo base you will be required to build made-to-order bikes based on the individual assessment.   Whilst this role is a hands-on technical role, it is so much more than that and is as unique as TADQ.  During the build of a bike, we often have many out of the box designs that require extra time and precision, working as part of a team to reach the end goal.  Many times, this includes the support of our 3D printer to help create parts.  This evolving role may also require travel for delivery and fittings to local area's.

Key tasks:

  • Bike and part assembly

  • Good communicator with a genuine interest in making a difference
  • Commitment to continuous improvement and upskilling
  • Must have a blue card/police check or the ability to ascertain
  • Passion for working with children with disabilities
  • Computer skills essential
  • Basic workshop skills and knowledge
  • The ability to weld is desirable
  • A current driver's licence and willingness to drive and travel
