OPS Screening & Crushing Equipment (OPS) have an impressive operating history of over 27 years of continued growth, with offices in WA, NT, SA, NSW and Indonesia as a leading supplier of mobile and screening, crushing, conveying and environmental equipment. Because of our continued growth, we require the services of a qualified, motivated and experienced Workshop Manager, for our busy and new large workshop located at Bibra Lake. OPS has recently relocated into a large modern workshop facility that allows us to continue our growth path, to meet our expansion goal. Recently we have expanded our business into Indonesia, which is extremely exciting for us.

You will be reporting to the Operations Manager, using your specific past experience, qualifications and established contacts to manage our large workshop responsible for brand new equipment assembly, major rebuilds and refurbishment work. At the same time, you must ensure the equipment is repaired / refurbished to the highest standard & quality, but to a budget and a committed completion date, often working extended working hours to deliver the outcome. 

OPS directors believe this role is part of the senior management team and pivotal to the future success and growth of the business, resulting in our clients continuing their ongoing relationship with OPS. Providing our customers with a focused overall service incorporating technical expertise, round the clock service & support is a key reason our clients continue their repeat business to OPS.

Your prime responsibilities are:

  • To dispatch reliable, ready to go to work, reliable machines that the customer can rely on, in other words, “equipment ready to work”
  • Maintain up to date machine records. Review all machine inspections and ensure they are correct.
  • Produce quotes for repairs to machines when off hired and rebuild quotations in a timely manner. Ensure all quotes from the department are reviewed and understood prior to submission.
  • Track costs against quoted values, using our Pronto financial management system, plus dealing timely with our clients with variations.
  • Plan tasks to best maximise utilisation of personnel and improve machine repair times.
  • Overall supervision of all personnel, including record keeping.
  • Maintain existing and seek new customer relations and identify new opportunities.
  • To deliver established budget OPEX and CAPEX.
  • For timely and accurate invoicing of works and keep work in progress low.
  • For the management, execution, lodgment and close out of warranty works.
  • Be a continuous improvement coach and mentor to employees to develop & improve their skills, find more efficient ways to approach tasks to deliver better results.
  • Mentor the apprentices, establish a plan that produces a better all-round tradesman.
  • Work with and support the OEM’s and OPS departments to provide best possible solutions to our customers.
  • Work with the Operations Manager to implement processes to improve operational efficiencies that include safety, quality, customer satisfaction and other.
  • Run daily pre-start meetings and fortnightly toolbox meetings, promote safety first culture.
  • Good communication skills and able to effectively manage to get the best out of your direct reports.
  • Always demonstrate a “Positive and can-do attitude” lead by example.

Applicants are required to meet the following criteria:

Education / Qualifications / Experience / Skills

  • Must have strong technical knowledge working on mobile crushing and screening equipment and materials handling equipment, i.e. crusher chambers, screens, conveyors, engines, hydraulics and electrics (Essential)
  • Minimum demonstrated experience of 5 years managing a busy workshop with specific experience in heavy industry (Essential)
  • Relevant Mechanical trade qualification.
  • Strong technical skills and demonstrated track record of methodically delivering solutions to customers in a positive manner.
  • Demonstrated track record of leading a team of 15-25 multi-disciplined workforce meeting changing demands to satisfy customers, often working under pressure.
  • Strong focus on getting the best outcome for both OPS and Customers “win-win”
  • "Team Player" who works collaboratively with the entire OPS management team, goal orientated and have strong computer skills.

The remuneration package will depend upon the capability of the successful applicant, OPS will reward the right candidate by providing job satisfaction, long term employment and remuneration.
