About the business and the role

The purpose of the role is to be responsible for maintaining the tunnel network assets.This will include routine maintenance, fault finding, replacement, removal and installation of equipment both whilst the tunnel is operational and during tunnel closures.

Job tasks and responsibilities

Duties include but are not limited to the following:

  • Develop and audit job plans and safety documentation, always promoting safe work practices and culture amongst the team and the organisation whilst looking for ongoing improvements and efficiencies to work practices
  • Perform mechanical, electrical and ITS maintenance inspections, services and routine activities, and participate in the development of related SWMS
  • Participate in the major closure maintenance activities
  • Perform fault finding and breakdown tasks
  • Assist with maintaining the maintenance workshop ensuring it is clean and tidy
  • Ensure work records are captured to a high standard and are completed consistently amongst the technicians group 
  • Ensure correct servicing documentation and other administration duties are completed and submitted within agreed timeframes
  • Ability to work in physically demanding environments such as working at heights and in confined spaces

As this role is responsible for a team, there are also leadership expectations including:

  • Manage and lead the team effectively and appropriately
  • Communicate TNS goals, safety practices and deadlines in a positive way
  • Motivate team members and assess performance providing feedback to Supervisors
  • Lead by example by striving for excellence in quality of work and behaviour

Skills and experience

Mandatory

  • Current First Aid & CPR / LVR
  • Sub Station awareness
  • Permit Authority
  • 6 + industrial experience
  • C Class Drivers Licence
  • Strong understanding of risk management processes, including hazard identification, risk assessment, and risk control assurance in an operational environment;
  • Understanding of Asset Management System (Maximo)
  • Trade Qualified – Fitter / Mechanic (Electrotechnology / Instrumentation / Refrigeration / Air Conditioning
  • First Aid / CPR and LVR (must be current)
  • Substation Safety Awareness
  • PLC Programming and Fault Finding
  • Construction Industry Card (White Card)

Desirable

  • Cert IV in WHS / Cert IV in TAE including LLN
  • Current HV switching
  • PLC programming / fault finding / trouble shooting
  • Computer Skills – Microsoft Suite of programs, Maximo, MyOsh
  • Operate Elevated Work Platform EWP
  • Cert IV in Instrumentation
  • Working at Heights
  • Confined Spaces
  • Hazardous Materials Awareness
  • Hazardous Areas Training
  • Gas Test Atmosphere
  • Working in accordance with a Permit System
  • Lock-out / Tag-out
  • Conduct Risk Assessment
