Job description:

Liberty OneSteel, part of the GFG Alliance group, operates a world-class state-of-the-art Steelmaking facility in Sydney’s Western Suburbs. We use local raw materials to produce high quality steel products in partnership with our loyal customers in the local construction and other industries, while building on our proud traditions of technical excellence and team safety.  Our Sydney Steel Mill forms part of a national manufacturing and supply chain of Australian long steel products.

Working as an experienced Fitter in Sydney Steel Mill, you will execute planned maintenance and inspection tasks, identify opportunities for improvement and provide feedback via the maintenance management system. You will be required to complete all tasks safely and to a high quality. There will also be regular shutdown tasks requiring your input as an individual or working with other members of the team.
Reporting to the Mechanical Leader, you will be responsible for ensuring availability and reliability for the operations. This will include the execution of preventative and predictive maintenance as well as attending to breakdowns if the need arises.

To be successful in this role, you will meet the below criteria:

  • Hold relevant mechanical trade qualification
  • Possess exceptional fault finding and troubleshooting skills
  • Have a proactive approach, whilst holding safety and customer as core values
  • Confident communicator who can work unsupervised
  • Previous experience with shutdown activity
  • Self-starter who is focussed on outcomes and keen to contribute to the business as a whole

A current forklift and EWP high risk work licence is highly desirable. Those with experience working on plant and equipment within a similar heavy industry will be viewed favourably.
