Australian Bus & Truck Care, based in Dandenong South is seeking an experienced, qualified and reliable Combination Welder. 

You will construct, modify and repair a wide variety of metal parts such as truck frames and bodies, brackets and tanks. You will carry out Chassis modifications and have experience in both lengthening and shortening Truck Chassis. You will occasionally also assist as a fitter being tasked with removing and relocating various truck components such as fuel tanks, air tanks and battery boxes to new heavy vehicles.

Your skills, qualities and experience should include: 

• Perform welding assignments with minimal supervision.
• Experienced in performing chassis extensions and shortenings
• Use conventional and precision measuring instruments.
• Proficient in assigned welding techniques.
• Knowledge of welding equipment.
• Finish grinding applications using manual and power tools.
• Read Construction Drawings and/or welding instructions.
• Finish welding work by removing slag, grinding or smoothing metal surfaces. 
• Adjust and maintain welding equipment 
• Have previous experience in grinding, sanding, drilling and spray painting.
• Be Self-Motivated 
• Be able to keep simple records, and meet or exceed listed times 
• Have a keen eye for detail 
• Take pride in your work 
• Believe in and practice accountability
• Knowledge of wire and filler materials applications for various steel alloys, aluminium, and some exotic materials.

This is a permanent position. Hours are 7am -3.10pm Monday to Friday (38hrs per week). Overtime is often essential for this role.
