We now have an exciting opportunity available for an Electrical & Instrumental Technician to join our Networks Operations team in Thomastown on a full time permanent basis.

Reporting to the Program Coordinator Electronic Systems, you will play a key role in building, repairing, modifying and maintaining assets within the control of the department.

On a day-to-day basis, your responsibilities will include:

  • Maintenance of telemetry and electrical systems and electrical equipment.
  • Installation, maintenance and calibration of electrical/electronic instruments used for gas measurement e.g. pressure and temperature transmitters, flow computers etc.
  • Repair and maintenance calibration of electronic instruments, e.g. pipe locators, gas detectors
  • Daily scheduling and performing of routine and project work.
  • Source quotes for equipment and materials within defined limits and provide recommendations.
  • Operate any relevant technical systems according to set procedures with limited supervision.

To excel in this position you will have the following skills, experience, qualifications and attributes:

  • Electrical trade qualification
  • Proven experience as a qualified electrical tradesperson, hold a current electrical authorisation
  • Current Class A Works Electrical Licence
  • A valid driver’s license
  • Hazardous Area – Electrical Certification (desirable but not essential)
  • Understanding of Australian and international electrical codes and standards
  • Demonstrated experience of attending to equipment breakdowns/defects of instrumentation or electrical components as required.
  • Demonstrated ability to use technical knowledge to problem solve and rectify the problem.
  • Ability to travel within VIC and NSW to perform planned and unplanned maintenance sometimes with short notice
