This is a permanent opportunity for an experienced Telecommunications Technician to join our Network Services team in Townsville looking after the communications and data network systems within Network.

This critical position is to carry out the installation, maintenance and repair of telecommunications and report on the performance and condition of the telecommunication asset to ensure safe and effective operation.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Install, maintain and repair telecommunication and electronic equipment in accordance with predefined work programs.
  • Ensure all work is performed in accordance with Workplace Health and Safety (WH&S) requirements and legislative policies including work activities performed by subordinate employees.
  • Ensure all work is performed in accordance with technical and operational specification and standards including work activities performed by subordinate employees.
  • Maintain records and associated documentation relating to asset condition, maintenance programs and costing systems.
  • Report on actual work performed against the scheduled maintenance program and equipment performance and condition irregularities.
  • Progress the implementation and application of work procedures and practices in pursuit of assuring and continuously improving quality.

 

To carry out the above responsibilities you will possess:

  • Sound knowledge of telecommunications equipment and systems with an emphasis on radio systems.
  • Sound skill in the installation and maintenance of telecommunications systems.
  • Sound skill in the bench repair of various electronic equipment to component level.
  • Sound skill in the use of common computer applications.
  • Sound knowledge of the technical regulations and standards relating to the maintenance and installation of the telecommunications network equipment/systems and customer premises equipment/systems.
  • Sound interpersonal, written and oral communication skills with an emphasis on customer service.

 

To be considered for this position you must have:

  • 20300281 Nat Drv Lic C (Qld A < 09.04.96)
  • Electronics Trade Certificate

This position requires you to:

  • Be available for call out/standby duties on a rotational roster
  • Travel throughout North/North West and Central Queensland as required.

This is a Permanent Full time position, starting salary $62,000 plus Superannuation
