Stabilised Pavements Group is focused on delivering pavement construction, rehabilitation and maintenance solutions that are cost effective, sound in design to deliver longevity and environmental sustainability.

We are currently seeking to employ a full time Plant Workshop Fitter/Supervisor, based out of our Somersby depot, in NSW. This role involves responsibility for supervising and carrying out servicing, repairing and maintenance of a wide variety of heavy duty road construction equipment. Work is usually confined to diagnosis of defects and failures of equipment, road testing, organizing repairs or checking equipment after completion of the repairs.

Applicants will need to demonstrate the following skills and attributes for consideration of their application:

Minimum Requirements are:

  • TAFE Certificate of Trade for Vehicle/Heavy Vehicle or Plant Mechanic OR demonstrated equivalent qualifications including relevant extensive experience;
  • A background within the Civil Construction industry with a minimum of five (5) years' experience repairing and maintaining road construction plant;
  • A HR licence or higher;
  • Must have a Construction Induction (White or Blue Card);
  • Experience using a (computerized maintenance system – (C Works) or similar;
  • Inspect and supervise major repairs, including ordering of parts (where required) in consultation with the Plant Manager;
  • Demonstrated previous supervisory experience within a diverse mechanical workshop;
  • Demonstrated recent experience in supervision of tradespersons, contractors, apprentices and day labour staff;
  • Ensure the workshop operation meets Work Health & Safety and Environmental Management principles and are carried out in compliance with relevant codes and standards;
  • Demonstrated knowledge of, and experience in the use of Microsoft Office applications including Word, Excel and Outlook;
  • Mig, arc welding and oxy cutting experience;
  • Forklift Licence;
  • Be able to work at any location that is under the management of Stabilised Pavements and/or any location as specified and instructed by the Plant or Regional Manager and prepared to work flexible hours, weekends and to be available to travel throughout the region to meet client needs.

We are looking for someone with the following attributes: -

  • Strong communication and supervision skills; working independently and part of a team;
  • Experience building strong supplier relationships;
  • Experience with computerised maintenance and stores systems;
  • Demonstrated administrative skills;
  • Previous experience in supervising workshops.
