The OPPORTUNITY:

Reporting to the Group Maintenance Manager, this role requires an experienced Maintenance & Operations Officer who is prepared to work hard and ensure that the Atlantic Group's premium venues are presented to the highest standard and are fully compliant with relevant safety and building compliance requirements.

Facilities management and general maintenance is core to this role and it is expected that the Maintenance & Operations Officer will provide "hands on" experience, as well as coordinate maintenance services in close liaison with contractors, customers, and stakeholders.

In addition, the Maintenance & Operations Officer will ensure the successful delivery of logistics services for event operations both within the Atlantic Group's Central Pier location as well as for major events such as the Melbourne Spring Racing Carnival and Melbourne Grand Prix.

Day-to-day responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • General repairs and maintenance work (including basic joinery, tiling, patch and painting);
  • Monitor and maintain maintenance job tracking system;
  • Ensure all equipment is operating to required standard and compliance documentation is in order;
  • Conduct regular inspections and initiate work required throughout the venue; 
  • Recommend, monitor and control the use of resources in maintenance operation;
  • Coordination of preventative maintenance programmes and schedules;
  • Coordinate & supervise work carried out by contractors;
  • Coordination of stores facility on Central Pier in liaison with off site warehouse and delivery contractors;
  • Packing and transport of equipment, furniture, materials, goods, etc. for general operations as well as major events; and
  • General assistance with all logistical aspects of major events including Spring Racing Carnival, Melbourne Grand Prix, etc. (including transport, forklift loading, stores, event equipment preparation etc.)

The EXPERTISE:

In addition to 3+ years experience in a maintenance role, you will need to possess a strong sense of urgency, high attention to detail and solid communication skills.  Other qualifications/skills/experience required are:

  • A valid Victorian drivers license (essential);
  • A valid Forklift license (or willingness to learn);
  • An Elevated Work Platform license (or willingness to learn);
  • Light/heavy Rigid Truck license (advantageous);
  • Carpentry skills or similar trade (advantageous);
  • Maintenance / repairs experience within a hospitality venue (highly advantageous);
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills;
  • Experience in transport, warehousing, logistics (advantageous);
  • Experience in the use of technology (e.g. Microsoft Office Suite, intranet/internet, etc.);
  • Thoroughness, good judgment and attention to detail (essential);
  • An ability to manage competing priorities and be self-motivated; and
  • A sense of urgency with an ability to meet critical deadlines.
