Penske is a one-stop shop for sales, service and parts for Western Star, MAN, Dennis Eagle, MTU, Detroit & Allison. An excellent opportunity exists for a Leading Hand - On Highway  to join the team and work in Darwin. 

Relocation assistance will be considered for candidates outside Darwin.

Key duties and responsibilities of the position include:

• Control and direct the On Highway workshop team to ensure that efficiencies in operation are achieved and monitored; quality work is produced and customer needs are satisfied in line with branch KPI’s
• Co-ordinate your team’s workloads and ensure that customer requests are met in an efficient and accurate manner
• Ensure parts supply to the workshop via planning with the Spare Parts Department.
• Champion OH&S activities and controls for the On Highway workshop facility to ensure Penske Power Systems policies are followed.
• Develop the On Highway Service Team in order to enhance the personal development of employees
• Ensure accurate reporting and forecasting on a regular basis through daily workshop meetings and updates
• Maintain policies and programs in order to ensure that customers are contacted on a regular basis, sales are maximised and PPS products and services are promoted
• Monitor repair times to ensure branch productivity and efficiency targets are met and that staff are encouraged to meet branch KPI’s
• Be able to work standard hours, overtime and Saturdays to accommodate customers.

The successful applicant will possess the following skills and attributes:

• Appropriate Trade, technical or business qualifications.
• At least 5 years’ experience in the Heavy Vehicle or Engine business.
• Sound technical knowledge and experience in Western Star, MAN, Dennis Eagle, Allison Transmissions, Detroit Diesel products and Mercedes diesel engine lines or similar.
• The ability to lead a team of highly skilled technicians.
• The ability to analyse situations and communicate effectively with staff concerned.
• The ability to motivate the On Highway Service team.
• Excellent customer service and is aware of the needs of Internal and External Customers.
• A high level of understanding of workshop coordination, labour sales, labour costs, expenses and margins.
• Effective time management skills.
• The ability to work with computer systems.
