About the role

We are looking for a dual trade Electrician/HVAC Maintainer to join our Electrical maintenance services team, a division of the Rio Tinto Weipa Electrical Workshop. This role is a permanent role and the successful applicant will be required to relocate to Weipa on a full time basis.

Working a 4,5,5 lifestyle roster at our new AMRUN mine, you will be asked to perform tasks that align with our preventative maintenance and safety strategies, as well as deliver timely breakdown services to all our internal clients. Reporting to your crew leader, you will perform:

• Daily task based risk assessments
• Fault finding and maintaining general low voltage circuits and non-production related plant and equipment
• General low voltage circuit additions, modifications and installations
• Small switchboard upgrades
• Earth Leakage protection relay testing
• Cathodic protection inspections and repairs
• Quarterly welder stat checks and repairs
• Site Test and Tag requirements
• Fault finding and repairing critical Laboratory equipment
• Update work related documents such as standards, drawings and PRT’s
• After hours callouts when on shift
• Carry out programmed preventative maintenance on site wide refrigeration and air conditioning plant and equipment (excluding camp)
• Perform fault finding and repairs to various refrigeration and Air conditioning plant and equipment
• Carry out installation of equipment including various splits systems and package units
• Perform work in a time and standard that allow weekly KPI’s to be whilst maintaining the highest of safety standards
• Assist the Power and Distribution team with programmed HV works

About you

To succeed in this role, you will have:

• A current Queensland Electrical Fitter/Mechanic Licence or similarly recognised qualification that can be transferred
• Cert III Electro technology – Refrigeration and Air-Conditioning with an unrestricted ARCTIC licence
• A strong understanding of various refrigeration and electrical principles and fault finding techniques
• A current manual “C’ class drivers licence
• Previous post trade experience in mining or a similar industry
• Previous post trade experience in our core business
• An outstanding attitude towards safety

It will also be beneficial if you have:

• High risk work licences such as EWP, Forklift and Dogman’s
• Working at heights and confined space competencies
• Medium Rigid drivers licence
• HVIA training
• EEHA training
• MSIC clearance
• Experience with SAP
