About Essence
Essence Suites Taringa will be four-star luxury brand new property with direct access to both the Westside Private Hospital and Taringa Train Station. It will be the ideal choice for medical stays, business or leisure, offering 63 luxuriously appointed suites, as well as state-of-the-art meeting and conference facilities.
About your new role
We are on the lookout for a Handyperson to join the inaugural team at our brand-new hotel, Essence Suites Taringa. This state of the art property opens in November 2018 and the Handyperson will be commencing with us in October 2018 in preparation for our opening.
The key responsibilities of this role are to effectively and efficiently carry out the maintenance of the apartments, common areas both internally and externally. This is a hands-on role and will provide a great opportunity to join our growing business!
This is full-time role predominately on a Monday to Friday roster; however, weekends may be required on an ad hoc basis during peak periods and/or as required by the business.
Role responsibilities
- Inspect, report and carry out any general maintenance and minor repairs to rooms and common areas.
- Complete general repairs such as plumbing, light bulb changes, painting, plastering and carpentry and general investigative work to ascertain potential issues.
- Assist in the effective operations of the building and its compliance to OH&S requirements.
- Operate within company health and safety procedures.
- Maintain the gardens and conduct grounds maintenance as required.
- Provide assistance in a professional and efficient matter to customers.
- Communicate effectively with other staff and contractors.
- Establish good working relations with contractors.
- Attending major emergency issues after hours – i.e. water leakages, power failures, fire etc.
What you’ll need to succeed
- Previous experience in a similar capacity in the accommodation, real estate or hospitality industry.
- Demonstrated experience in general property and grounds maintenance and repairs. (including electrical, plumbing installations and building maintenance).
- A trade qualification as a Builder, Electrician or Plumber will be highly regarded.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills including the ability to relate to people from diverse backgrounds.
- A can-do attitude with the ability to take initiative in resolving problems.
- Current First Aid certificate and comprehensive understanding of basic Occupational Health & Safety principles and chemical handling or a willingness to obtain prior to commencement.
- Ability to provide evidence of a National Police Check.
- Hold a valid QLD Drivers Licence with no driving restrictions.
