We are seeking Trade Qualified Heavy Vehicle Mechanics (Diesel Mechanic, Motor Mechanic, Fitters etc) for full-time permanent roles based in Derrimut.

As a Heavy Vehicle Mechanic, you will be responsible for the service, repair and rebuild of Truck Trailers from Skels to Refrigerated Trailers and anything in between. Combining your heavy vehicle experience with your strong personal standard of work, you will take pride and ownership of your role.

Located in Derrimut (with the opportunity to work on client sites) you will be part of the Workshop repair and service team, working on various types of trailers, in a very clean and modern work site.

Description

Your duties and responsibilities for the role will include:

• Undertake all types of mechanical work as directed by the Supervisor, this will include servicing of trailers.
• Perform mechanical and general appearance recondition of trailer equipment
• Identify and determine parts for assembling units
• Repair suspension, alignment, electrical, brake, painting, mixing, tinting, blending, welding and fabricating
• Repair or replace heavy duty trailer brake bearing and air systems
• Remove and fit axles and suspension type bushes
• Ensure all correct torque wrench specifications are adhered to
• Maintain work area appearance and safety
• Road test trailers when necessary
• Proficiency in the use of all tools of trade (including welding equipment, painting equipment, shop machines and power tools) required

Profile

As well as having a strong sense of pride in the work that you complete, you will also have:

• Trade certificate (Diesel Mechanic, Vehicle Mechanic, Mechanical Fitter etc)
• Heavy trailer brake and air systems experience
• Knowledge of Company trading terms and conditions
• Understanding of and compliance to Company policies and procedures
• Ability to process data to achieve best warranty outcomes
• Management of associated data related to time keeping, warranty and repair cards. This includes data base and hard copy versions
• Knowledge of internal database systems
• Commitment to quality and time lines
• Strong Verbal and Written Communication skills
• Excellent time-management
• Meticulous customer service skills
• High level of organisation
• Ability to determine accurate costing of material and labour in all warranty claims
• Ability to process warranty issues to correct owner
• Experience in Road Transport Industry
• 3-4 years of experience in a similar role
• Current Drivers Licence
• HR Licence, Forklift, First Aid and/or MC Licence would be advantageous
• Own tools (list will be provided, discounts available on site)
