The opportunity

Partnered with our client, we are looking for a motivated self-starter who is comfortable to work supervised and unsupervised. This full time opportunity would suit a 2nd or 3rd year Auto Electrician who is looking to continue their apprenticeship, but may also suit a Heavy Vehicle Mechanic with exposure to service work, who is looking to diversify their training. This is a unique opportunity that will allow you to complete your Certificate III in Heavy Commercial Vehicle Mechanical Technology (AUR31116). You will gain valuable hands-on experience working on air conditioning units and installations whilst undertaking your theory coursework.

You will be given the unique opportunity to combine 2 trades by working on new model buses by being involved in the installation, repairs, and servicing of air-conditioning units. This role will suit an auto electrician who has already completed 1-2 years working with cars and looking to expand their skills, or a heavy vehicle, or mobile plant mechanic who has completed 1-2 years of their trade and is looking to specialise in the bus air-conditioning service trade. You will learn how to instal new air conditioner units, service and repair existing units in buses, trucks, earth moving equipment, cranes, and more.

Who we’re looking for

Being a mobile air conditioning company the successful candidate will be provided with a company vehicle as well as all of the tools required for the job – so a drivers licence and clean driving history are required (C class). Having a HR licence would be an advantage but is not essential for this role. You will be ready to take on challenging physical work in a sometimes demanding environment and have a ‘safety first’ attitude. In addition to these qualities, you will:

  • Have completed 1-2 years in an auto-electrical, heavy vehicle mechanic, or mobile plant mechanic apprenticeship
  • A high attention to detail and be willing to ask questions
  • Have your own transport and drivers licence
  • You can already confidently complete basic tasks independently, assured that your work will be signed off without errors
  • Have your White Card
  • Pick new things up quickly and are great at following directions
  • Be punctual – you understand the importance of being on time – every time
  • Someone with the drive to exceed expectations and further their career

Applicants who have prior exposure to working at heights will be highly regarded however having a good head for heights and being willing to obtain a working at heights ticket is essential.
