In 2014, Veolia signed a 10-year contract with client Hunter Water Corporation for the operations and maintenance of its water and wastewater treatment facilities. Hunter Water supplies potable water and wastewater treatment services to over half a million people in six local government areas. This currently consists of 6 water treatment plants and 19 wastewater treatment plants.
Veolia is seeking a Mechanical Technician to provide mechanical maintenance for the Veolia Water operations within the Hunter region.
This is an exciting opportunity involving trust and empowerment for a tradesman that is able to work autonomously and wishes to have input into planning their works across a number of sites in the lower Hunter Valley. Veolia provides training in all internal systems used and this position would be ideal for a tradesman with a thirst for embracing technologies and partnering with plant operations.
Key Responsibilities include:
- Perform routine preventive maintenance and breakdown tasks as directed
- Manage workload, priorities and jobs effectively
- Carry out planning of site-specific scheduled maintenance tasks
- Perform general mechanical duties and assist in operational tasks as required
- Request and hold permits to work under the Veolia Hunter Water Operations permit systems and Safety Rules
- Maintenance of work area, including workshop, and housekeeping
- Complete defect notifications and defect works
- Use supplied technology to investigate plant assets, faults and repairs
- Communicate with, organise and supervise sub-contractors as required
- Provide training and mentoring to apprentices
- Work within the WH&S, Environmental and Quality Systems
- Provide other support as required by the Maintenance Supervisor
To be considered for this role you must have:
- Mechanical Trade Qualifications
- Demonstrated experience in maintenance of heavy industrial plant and equipment
- Knowledge of WHS Act and other related regulations as required
- Ability to effectively manage multiple tasks as required
- Other relevant skills or information:
- Must have a current driver's license
- High level of proficiency in using Microsoft Windows-based computing systems
- Must be available to participate in the on-call roster when required
