Locker and its associated companies are subsidiaries of Valmont Australia - an international leader in engineered products and services for infrastructure and water-conserving irrigation equipment for agriculture.

Locker service the architectural and construction industries with a range of expanded metal, perforated metal, wire mesh, steel grating, handrails and curtains utilised in facades, balustrades, screening and interior applications.

Locker now have an opportunity for a suitably qualified and experienced Maintenance Fitter to join our team based in Dandenong, VIC. The successful candidate will be a highly motivated and experienced individual who will be responsible for providing time critical service and ensuring the reliability of all production equipment and a safe work environment.
 

Duties include:

• Carrying out inspections and repairs on machinery as directed by the Engineering Manager;
• Carrying out work in compliance with all quality, safety and environmental systems;
• Minimizing production downtime by carrying out efficient and accurate repairs;
• Recording work on paperwork supplied within MEX maintenance software;
• Liaising with Engineering Manager and Production Managers in relation to any plant or equipment issues;
• Reporting defective equipment to the Engineering Manager;
• Actively participate in continuous improvement to plant and operational practices;
• Operating to Lean Manufacturing Principles;
• Actively take part in Root Cause Analysis investigations and corrective actions;
• Actively participate in the goal zero safety culture;
• Reporting and participating in the investigation of all incidents and hazards;
• Being aware of and meeting customer needs both within the organization and outside; and
• Assist in the review and development of SOP's.
   

Key Qualifications, Skills and Experience required:

• Trade qualification as a Fitter;
• Electrical Reconnect / Disconnect License;
• Minimum 5 years' post trade experience, preferably in a heavy industry/manufacturing environment;
• Demonstrated experience in fault finding and repairing a range of machinery;
• Previous experience with pneumatic and hydraulic systems;
• Demonstrated knowledge of WHS responsibilities and an outstanding commitment to Safety;
• Team player with a can do approach;
• Sound analytical and problem solving skills; and
• Strong computer skills and experience using CMMS systems (i.e. Main pack, MEX, SAP )
