Our Opportunity

The Thales Australia Maritime business offers ship repair services, maintenance and asset management / in-service support capabilities for commercial and naval ships in Australia. As an Electrician you will be responsible for a variety of maintenance activities in support of Garden Island Defence precinct assets to ensure overall asset reliability. This varied role will challenge your proven electrical skills and see you as part of a team in carrying out a mixture of planned maintenance and fault finding activities within a unique and rewarding environment.

Responsibilities

  • Fault finding of electrical and electronic systems
  • Utilising your specialist electrical skills to ensure planned maintenance to support critical equipment
  • Fitting of cable support systems on-board naval and commercial vessels
  • Assemble or repair and test of electrical components (Junction Boxes, Relay panels etc) IAW Drawings, Work Instructions and/or written specifications
  • Identify and participate in energy efficiency programs to minimise cost and overall environmental impact
  • Select and procure replacement parts and ready use stores, as well as supervise maintenance contractors as required
  • Maintain a high level of communication with all relevant stakeholders to develop and maintain effective working relationships

About You

  • Relevant electrical trade background and electrical licence
  • Demonstrated post-trade experience and a strong electrical aptitude
  • Robust fault finding and trouble shooting skills coupled with strong general electrical maintenance skills
  • Well-developed communication and team skills with a proactive approach to tasks
  • Proven ability to organise and prioritise tasks, manage competing priorities and work to achieve set deadlines
  • Demonstrated customer focus with an ability to resolve complex issues with an eye for detail

Special Requirements: Must be an Australian Citizen to be eligible for a Defence Security Clearance and access information covered by the International Traffic in Arms Regulations.
