Our client is an innovative technology start up and works closely with customers to develop and provide innovative solutions for specific applications.
The company has seen strong growth and is looking for an experienced R&D Chemist to join their laboratory and to be the main Research and Development point of call.

About the Role:

Exciting career opportunity for an experienced Chemist with previous experience in ink, pigments, paint, polymers or construction materials to grow within this organization. You will lead the design and trials of specific products and assess performance against required parameters and specifications.

Reporting into the team Senior Scientist this role's primary responsibility is for new product development and testing which can range from looking at new raw materials, performance testing, provide guidance on blend rework and formulation adjustments.

You will be the main point of call for any adjustments to existing products depending on customer requirements and will need to be proactive in looking at new formulations that support the business. You will be based within the laboratory team but you will be responsible for all development work.

The role also requires excellent communication skills to be able to work with various stakeholders within the business and with external raw material suppliers.

This is a permanent position and salary is generous but dependant on experience.

Skills & Experience:

• A Degree in Chemistry, Materials Science or related
• Experience working within a development role ideally in the area of ink, polymers, construction materials
• Knowledge of resins, curatives and other critical additives commonly used in the ink industry
• Knowledge of pigment dispersions and preparation techniques highly regarded
• Experience with blend rework and new product development
• Ability to identify product quality related issues
• Excellent written and oral communication skills
• Strong computer literacy
• Excellent technical writing skills
