About the Opportunity
Cubic is seeking a Simulation Technician from Defence simulation professionals to support our work with the Australian Defence Simulation Training Centre. The position will be offered on a full time basis. The additional position will supplement our current Cubic team of 30+ full-time professionals, and will provide and support live, virtual and constructive (LVC) simulation systems within the Defence sector in the areas of configuration; security; accreditation and network design.
These positions are only available to Australian citizens. Permanent Residents and working visa holders will not be considered, as the incumbents must hold a current Australian Defence Security Clearance at minimum NV1 level.
The Person
The successful candidates will demonstrate the following experience and qualifications:
- experience in administering Red Hat Enterprise Linux and Microsoft operating systems and managing virtualized environments;
- understanding of networking and TCP/IP setup and troubleshooting skills;
- understanding of simulation applications and systems working through distributed simulations and networks using simulation architecture integration pathways;
- experience with Application customising and integration
- experience with development of custom scripts or code development, application packaging, building and managing virtualised environments, and developing, managing automated client delivery technologies;
- understanding of project management methodologies including agile delivery ;
- knowledge of current ADF Joint Warfare Doctrine;
- understanding of the application and conduct of Defence training, training systems, exercise development, military communications and C4ISR systems;
- appropriate qualifications in an IT related discipline (Diploma or collection of Certificates);
- understanding of the principles of service design with a basic understanding of ITIL service management practices and the ITIL service design model;
- the ability to:
- work with limited supervision and assist in the delivery of structured training programmes, and deliver complex work support requirements; and
- display personal and professional skills and ability to liaise with other areas of Defence.
- deploy on military exercises / site surveys.
- shift work during exercise support
Personal Qualities and Experience
Applicants must demonstrate excellent verbal communication skills; specifically, have the ability to communicate complex LVC simulation issues and solutions to a non-technical training audience. An understanding of Australian Defence Force simulation operations and policies, and the Australian Defence Training and Experimentation Network (DTEN) will be highly regarded. Previous military experience is preferred.
