The Opportunity

As a Scientist joining the purification team within the Cell Culture and Purification Development group at CSL, you will be responsible for process development activities for a variety of therapeutic candidate proteins including monoclonal antibodies and coagulation factors. The successful candidate will have a hands-on approach while demonstrating a high level of technical competency within the team.

The Role

In your role as Scientist in the purification team you will be required to:

  • Have a demonstrated record of process development experience in the fields of recombinant or plasma proteins
  • Demonstrate familiarity with ÄKTA chromatography systems and Unicorn software
  • Demonstrate relevant computer skills, with the ability to use statistical software packages (e.g. JMP or Minitab) and experience in statistical analysis and design of experiments
  • Demonstrate technical expertise in the filtration field (such as TFF or depth filtration)
  • Coordinate activities relating to the planning and careful execution of experimental protocols
  • Ensure accurate and timely data collection including documentation of experiments
  • Actively participate in the analysis of data in conjunction with the purification team
  • Author documents including procedures, experimental protocols and reports
  • Communicate ideas and results succinctly to the team via PowerPoint presentations
  • Have hands-on experience in industry and possess a strong understanding of the biotech industry's needs in terms of product quality and process-flow

To excel in the role of Scientist in purification team, you will possess:

 

  • Experience in aspects of recombinant or plasma protein purification and process development in a manufacturing environment.
  • A strong knowledge of chromatography modes and resins and the selection thereof during manufacture.
  • The ability to work collaboratively with upstream, formulation and analytical teams
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong organisational skills
  • The ability to work closely and effectively with colleagues of all levels
  • Proven ability to be independent and self-motivated, demonstrating flexibility to flourish in a fast paced environment
  • An understanding of new scientific concepts and ideas
  • Receptiveness to change in activity and feedback within the workplace

     

     

    We’re looking for a dynamic applicant who demonstrates the following qualifications and skills:

     

  • PhD or Master’s degree in Biochemistry, Biochemical Engineering, Chemical Engineering or a related discipline
  • A minimum of two years’ work experience in a process development related field
  • Proven ability to work as a team member, being self-motivated and demonstrating flexibility to flourish in a fast paced environment
  • Aptitude for statistical analysis and experimental design
