The role

The Biologics department is looking for a talented, self-motivated Research Assistant with the experience to execute antibody discovery and technology development projects.

Working independently and in collaboration with cross-functional teams, you will be screening the function of therapeutic antibodies drug candidates, through cell line maintenance, screening and functional cell based assays. General molecular biology and protein purification and characterisation techniques will also be used in this hands on laboratory based role.
The successful candidate will be a creative scientist with a strong interest in cell biology within drug discovery and will be expected to contribute independently to the development of in-house antibody screening assays.

Selection Criteria:

Essential:
• BSc Honours degree in cell, molecular or protein biology
• Molecular biology experience, including cloning, PCR
• Experience in mammalian tissue culture
• Demonstrated ability to learn new techniques and technologies
• Excellent communication and people skills
• Strong professional writing skills and record keeping

Highly Desirable:

• Biochemical assay development experience, including ELISA and/or flow cytometry highly desirable
• Protein expression and purification using flow cytometry and/or using SPR (Biacore)
• Experience with FACS (cell sorting)
• Experience in the analysis of antibody structure-function relationships
• Experience within industry highly regarded
