What's the opportunity?

We are seeking an experienced Data Scientist for a newly created opportunity within Clean TeQ. Reporting to the Mining and Geology Manager, the Data Scientist will undertake variety of analysis and research tasks, utilising sophisticated statistical modelling and visualisation tools to identify opportunities for the enhancement of the data automation process and improvement of productivity across Clean TeQ’s Sunrise project.

This is a full time permanent role, initially based in Perth with a view of relocating to Parkes, NSW as the project progresses.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Building and maintaining the geology / mining database.
  • Data mining from multiple sources to create integrated views that can be used to drive decision making.
  • Developing reconciliation, feed-back, and feed forward protocols
  • Analysing performance, reconciling predicted vs actual measurements to report and recommend improvements.
  • Collaborating with the Mining, Geology and Processing teams to provide actionable insights and recommendations based on the findings.
  • Providing support in applying technical and business process expertise through the collection and reporting of organisational metrics.
  • Design, development and maintenance of visual dashboards using database programming and modern methodologies.
  • Communication of findings to appropriate stakeholders, including executive management, in easy to understand language in both verbal and written format.
  • Directly contributing to the continuous enhancement of the data automation process.
  • Learn new tools such as programming languages as necessary, and work collaboratively in teams.


What can you bring to the role?

  • Advanced expertise in data mining and working with large datasets
  • Experience completing projects from inception to delivery.
  • Quantitative research data analysis background using SPSS along with R/Python/SQL programming skills.
  • Experience in remote field exploration work.
  • Tertiary qualification in information systems, statistics, mathematics, discipline.
  • Nickel / Cobalt laterite experience (highly regarded).
  • Earth Science and/or logistics exposure would be valuable.
  • Excellent communication & presentation skills
  • Stakeholder management experience
