Octief operates a commercial Environmental Testing Laboratory based at Yatala. Due to an increase in analytical capability, we are looking for a laboratory technician to conduct chemical analysis of water and soil samples in accordance with NATA requirements. The successful applicant will be working in a clean, modern laboratory and report to the Manager Laboratory Technical Services. The position is full time and onsite training will be provided.
The Laboratory Technician's primary duties will include but are not limited to:
- Logging samples into the Laboratory Information Management System
- Preparation of soil and water samples for chemical analysis
- Conducting routine chemical analysis of soil and water samples in accordance with documented procedures
- Performing instrument calibration and maintenance and maintaining records
- Assessing data quality to ensure it meets NATA and customer requirements
- Maintaining an adequate supply of laboratory consumables
- Promote zero harm and maintain a safe work environment
Previous experience in a similar role is preferable, however this position is open to applicants with general laboratory experience.
Essential skills include:
- Tertiary qualifications in Chemistry or similar discipline
- Be able to work unsupervised
- Experience with ICPAES would be desired but not essential
- Be able to communicate with customers
- Be familiar with laboratory quality management systems
- Ability to multi task and organise work flow to ensure the delivery of analysis results meets customer requirements
- High level of attention to detail and maintain accurate record keeping, documentation and data entry
- Knowledge of ISO17025 and NATA requirements an advantage
A valid Driver's Licence (full - preferred) and excellent driving history is mandatory. Criminal and Employment health checks may also be necessary.
