InterGrain is seeking a Breeding Technician located in Bibra Lake WA. This position supports a plant breeding program. You will assist with all aspects of field, glass house and laboratory operations. 

Responsibilities

• Conduct field  & seed processing operations associated with the breeding program including the planting, harvesting and maintenance of field trials, as well as hand harvesting and threshing of single plants, cleaning of trial seed and the packaging and preparing of field trials. 
• Assist in the compilation of trials and creation of reports for trial preparation and the collation, management, analysis and reporting of trial data. 
• Assist as required in the conduct of biotechnology, plant pathology, plant physiology and quality services supporting the breeding program. 
• Conduct disease and agronomic assessments on trial plots. 
• Assist as required in the management of pedigree seed production, particularly in relation to rogueing off-types from pure seed plots
• Conduct glasshouse operations associated with the breeding program including crossing, seek multiplication and disease resistance testing.
• Conduct seed processing and packaging associated with preparing field and glass house trials
• Set a personal example of health and safety awareness.
• Display inspiring and motivating behaviour to promote the InterGrain culture. 

Desirable Qualities

• Tertiary qualifications in science or agricultural science or TAFE Diploma or equivalent agriculture, horticulture or lab practice. 
• Experience in field-based agricultural research and or greenhouse operations. 
• Knowledge and understanding of plant breeding principles an advantage
• High computer literacy skills with attention to detail essential
• Good oral and written communication skills
• Well developed interpersonal skills and the ability to work independently
• Australian citizenship, or immigration status to be legally employed in Australia 
• Current drivers licence rated C class or heavier
