Salary: $99,199 - $107,370 per annum plus 17% superannuation

The Laboratory and Technical Services Manager is a new position reporting to the Manager, Operations & Infrastructure within the Faculty of Veterinary and Agricultural Science and will play a pivotal role working with academic and professional staff to facilitate the transition of practical class teaching from three faculties to the new Western Edge Bioscience (WEBS) facility in 2019.

The Laboratory and Technical Services Manager will have overall responsibility for the management of the teaching technical support across the (WEBS) teaching laboratories and will lead a team of technical staff to deliver laboratory support for all laboratory practical classes.

The role is responsible for the key development and management of the teaching support annual budget, the daily operations of three undergraduate teaching laboratories and together with senior academic staff, for planning and decision-making in relation to subject delivery.

This is a complex role and the Manager requires significant technical expertise in the operation of laboratory facilities, management of financial resources; supervision of laboratory staff, safe working conditions and provision of expert and professional analytical advice, while ensuring compliance with relevant internal guidelines, policies and procedures.

The position is located at the Parkville Campus of The University of Melbourne.
