At TEG Analytics we utilise a wide array of data types and sources with this data we provide valuable insights to a wide range of customers in all kinds of industries.
The Data Science team is responsible for all things analytics. We develop products that enable the entire TEG Analytics business to deliver to our clients both internally within the TEG group and externally. Our products are powered by cutting edge machine learning and the creative application of those techniques.
As the Data Scientist you will work with various data sources such as relational databases, web, cloud storage and NoSQL to name a few. Every day you will be working with this data applying relevant techniques to enhance, understand and ultimately provide algorithms to answer specific and important questions. You will be exposed to a wide array of technologies ranging from dashboards all through to big data technologies such as spark.
Some of the tools we use are Python for development, SQL, Neo4j, Spark, Drill & Tableau to name a few.
This role is dynamic and requires creativity. One day you may be working on integrating a new data feed the other you are applying the latest deep learning neural network to predict an outcome, with that in mind here are some key responsibilities of the role:
- Develop machine learning algorithms
- Apply clustering and other non-supervised learning techniques to a wide array of data
- Enhance existing algorithms to improve performance, accuracy or both
- Develop ways to display insights and make them available to clients
- Maintain existing automation scripts on AWS or GCP platforms
- Utilise your Python and Unix scripting to interrogate various data sources
- Develop your own and our team skills through training and knowledge sharing
- Other duties as reasonably required.
Essential experience & skills
- 3 years of experience developing machine learning algorithms in a commercial environment
- 3 years of experience programming with Python in a commercial environment
- Extensive experience with SQL
- Ability to utilise Python to script various processes and not only machine learning techniques
- Strong ability to explain your work to both technical and not technical audiences
- Extensive ability to understand and formulate machine learning projects and targets
- Ability to engage with stakeholders, gather requirements and recommend appropriate solutions
- Strong ability to collaborate with other technical teams and deliver to requirements
- An ability to translate commercial ideas into products
It is highly desirable if you have familiarity with AWS products and environments, GCP products and environments, developing dashboards in Tableau and experience with graph databases and their application.
