The Role
We currently have an exciting opportunity for an Environmental Technician/ Technical Officer to join our dynamic environment team in Newcastle. As part of an international, multi-disciplinary organization, you will have the opportunity to work on a range of projects. AECOM provides environmental services across all market sectors including oil and gas, defense, government, mining, manufacturing, energy, waste and land development
The primary purpose of this Technical Officer role is to prepare for and carry out environmental monitoring of emissions sources on industrial sites. The role includes maintenance and calibration of equipment associated with point source emissions testing.
You will also be responsible for preparing Excel spreadsheets and reporting emissions monitoring results in accordance with relevant procedures and QA guidelines. Additionally, you will be the point of contact when liaising with existing and potential clients whilst onsite conducting environmental monitoring works.
The role is predominantly site based with some overnight travel required outside of the Newcastle region. You will be required to follow scientific testing methods and work to AECOM’s high safety standards.

About You
- 1-4 years’ relevant professional experience;
- Technically minded with a hands on nature and ability to effectively maintain equipment;
- Experience working in a dynamic, fast paced environment;
- Professional nature with the ability to communicate at all levels of the business and represent AECOM with integrity when on client sites;
- Demonstrated experience in supporting projects and meeting delivery/client requirements; and
- Previous emission testing or ambient monitoring experience is preferred, though on the job training will be provided.
Desired Qualifications:
- Appropriate tertiary, TAFE or Trade qualification;
- Working knowledge of MS Office Suite; and
- NSW WorkCover White Card, Working at Heights Certification, Senior First Aid Training & an Elevated Work Platform License would be beneficial.
