Science Laboratory Technician

Kempsey Adventist School (KAS) is now inviting applications for the key position of a part-time Science Laboratory Technician. (Immediate start required).

The purpose of the role is to ensure efficient, safe and effective operation of the Science laboratories and management of resources. The Science Laboratory Technician will exercise significant initiative and be able to work autonomously and will prepare materials for all Science disciplines.

The Science Laboratory Technician must be appropriately qualified with demonstrated experience, knowledge, competence and skill as a Science Laboratory staff member to undertake this essential role for the School to achieve its learning goals. 

Essential Criteria

• Scientific knowledge and skill to facilitate materials preparation in a school science laboratory setting within the framework of the NESA Science Curriculum requirements.
• Demonstrated ability to work independently and effectively within a multidisciplinary team while maintaining professional working relationships within the broader school community.
• Effective organisational and time management skills with ability work within strict timeframes and meet deadlines.
• Demonstrated capacity to both create and maintain Material Safety Data Sheets, a Hazardous Substances Register and Risk Assessment documentation.
• An understanding of a 21st-century educational setting.
• Eligibility to reside and work in Australia.

Part-time: 20 hours per week (40 school term weeks, plus 4 weeks accrued annual leave. School term break stand down applies).

Salary range: $23,000 to $25,000 per annum, dependent upon the skills and experience of the successful applicant. (Plus superannuation).

Superannuation: An employer contribution of 9.5% applies.

Term of position: An initial maximum term contract will apply.
