About the Tumour Immunology Laboratory:

The major goal of the Tumour Immunology Laboratory is to obtain a deeper understanding of the mechanisms by which an immune response to tumours may be generated, augmented and applied to the inhibition of tumour growth.

Role Purposes / Responsibilities:

This position offers the opportunity to develop immune-based therapies for Epstein-Barr virus and cytomegalovirus-associated diseases.

You will be responsible for:

  • Developing and validating single and multiplex immunohistochemistry (IHC) assays.
  • Assisting in Imaging of tissue sections using automated microscopy, and  running image analysis pipelines using manual and automated image analysis softwares. 
  • Conducting experiments using standard techniques of molecular biology/biochemistry and cell culture (DNA/RNA extraction, PCR, ELISA, western blotting)
  • In addition, you may be also involved in processing blood and tissue samples from patients participating in the clinical trials. 

About You:

To be successful, you will have an Honours degree in immunology, biochemistry, molecular biology or a related biological science. 

The following technical knowledge and experience is essential;

  • Histopathological techniques such as tissue sample preparation, IHC assay development, collecting images with IHC and IF (minimum 4 fluoroscent dyes) staining, digital pathology; sterile tissue culture techniques, including maintenance of human cell lines and primary cultures.
  • Ability to troubleshoot and find solutions for histotechnological and immunfluoroscence challenges.
  • Familiarity with whole slide scanners (Aperio, Zeiss, and/or Perkin Elmer) and existing image analysis software packages such as imageJ, Definiens) is a plus.
  • Meticulous attention to detail.
  • Working both autonomously and co-operatively within team is critical.
