Avisure specialises in wildlife strike and risk mitigation for the aviation industry. Our services include consulting, research, providing expert advice and airfield wildlife management to reduce the occurrence and impact of wildlife strike. We also consult on risk and emergency management to airports. Avisure’s team of experts work around the globe with airports, airlines and the military.

 

The Role

The ideal candidate will have the passion for what we do and ambition to be a part of an organisation that defines best practice wildlife management at airports around the world.

You will undertake active management of wildlife, monitor wildlife populations and environment, assess wildlife strike risk and liaise with and develop reports for clients. This role will include flexible full-time hours as part of a diverse team or working individually.

Desirable factors:

·        Experience

o    Excellent bird identification skills and demonstrated bird and wildlife survey experience

o    Bird and other wildlife rescue

o    Understanding of wildlife behaviour

o    Experience working in an aviation environment

o    Electronic methods/apps for collecting wildlife population and environmental data

o    Demonstrated knowledge and experience in wildlife management and/or vertebrate pest control.

o    Drive and recovery of four-wheel drive vehicle

·        Certificates / licences

o   Aerodrome Reporting Officer Certificate

o   Aeronautical Radio Operator Certificate (AROC)

o   Airport Security Identification Card (ASIC) – requires criminal history check

o   Firearms licence – Categories A and/or B and/or C

Selection Criteria

·        Tertiary degree in ecology, wildlife behavioural, environmental science or similar.

·        Australian citizen and vetting for projects in security restricted areas (or ability to rapidly acquire security vetting).

·        Current manual drivers licence; with clean police and driving record.

·        Proven ability to use problem solving techniques that focus on results and achieve desired outcomes for project related issues.

·        Demonstrated and successful project management skills with the ability to deliver within scheduled timeframes, budgets and health, safety and quality requirements.

·        Situational awareness to readily identify safety considerations involving aircraft movement, wildlife presence and the activity of other vehicles, equipment and people utilising the airport.

·        Intermediate to advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office (especially Excel) including the ability to manipulate data in complex spreadsheets.

·        High level of interpersonal skills with a strong focus on oral communication and evidenced-based report writing.

·        Demonstrated capacity to contribute positively to a team environment; working both independently and collaboratively.
