ROLE

In Australia, our client is a dynamic growing business servicing the Australian Food Manufacturing Export market. The development of this Melbourne based, Food Testing Laboratory, is a further step to provide value to both the industry and the consumer in China.

Reporting to the General Manager, as the Laboratory Manager, you will be directly responsible for ensuring that the financial, operational and service objectives are met to support the vision & strategic plans of the business.

As this is a new facility, the successful candidate will be involved with the set up of an operational food testing Laboratory, including procurement of equipment.

Other duties associated with this role include:

• Oversee implementation and validation of methods.
• Oversee implementation of LIMS or similar data management system.
• Achieve relevant operating accreditations.
• Ensuring the service delivery meets or exceeds customer requirements.
• Reviewing, developing and introducing systems, practices and cultural changes that enables the laboratory to better meet business demands within agreed time frames and expected quality standards.
• Ensuring the business unit performs within budget or achieves financial goals.
• Ensuring compliance to all GLP, Quality and EH&S systems.
• Assist in the development and implementation of new business analysis initiatives to meet company business goals and objectives.

SELECTION CRITERIA

To be successful in your application, you must meet the following criteria:

• Tertiary degree or higher in a Scientific discipline, Chemistry or similar preferred.
• Minimum of 5 years experience within a Commercial or Manufacturing Laboratory environment.
• Strong experience in Leadership and Performance Management.
• Experience in developing detailed budget and business plans.
• Proven track record in setting up a new laboratory.
• Experience and knowledge in the applications of GLP and Quality Systems (ISO 17025).
• Strong communication and presentation skills (oral, written & listening).
• Computer skills including LIMS.
• Full work rights in Australia.
