DuPont Nutrition & Health are currently recruiting for an Application Specialist – Dairy to join our team at the Macquarie Park office.

The Application Specialist – Dairy provides technical service, and technical product support activities through disciplined project management, maximised use of existing intellectual property and effective business partner relationships to deliver high quality, timely and commercially sound responses to the market, and as appropriate, regulatory and industry professional bodies.

Focal points for the role include expert support for UHT & HTST creams, milks and milk analogs as well as aerated products including frozen desserts.

The Application Specialist’s responsibilities will include:

• Knowledgeable, reliable and timely support across business functions including sales, Product Managers, overseas innovation sites to ensure customers receive expert technical support, particularly relating to successful utilisation of DuPont Nutrition & Health’s products
• Disciplined project management in order to deliver high quality, on-time results to external and internal customers.
• Develop and/or localise product concepts and demonstration kits in order to provide convincing evidence to customers about inclusion of DuPont Nutrition & Health’s products in winning, market relevant products
• Initiate, organise, conduct and evaluate pilot plant trials and supporting laboratory work in order to produce reliable data concerning performance of DuPont Nutrition & Health’s products in the application at hand.
• Develop and/or deliver, as needed, customer workshops and presentations in order to raise customer awareness of product performance needs in focus applications and educate customers on how to employ DuPont’s products to address these needs.

The preferred candidate will have a tertiary qualification in food technology or other relevant discipline along with substantial food industry experience in an R&D or production environment with detailed knowledge of formulating and re-formulating focus product types as well as process troubleshooting (min. 7 years envisaged). Emphasis will be placed on experience in UHT production environments while experience in other categories such as frozen desserts would be well regarded. The successful candidate must have a working knowledge of common unit operations within dairy plants eg. mixing, pumping, pasteurisation, sterilisation, homogenisation, aseptic filling.

In addition, our candidate will have sound understanding of Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) in production environments. Demonstrated capability in experimental design, detailed results analysis and sound technical judgement. Ability to prepare and deliver technical and scientific presentations professionally and effectively. Willingness to travel 35-40 days per year, in the ANZ region and occasionally other overseas location.
