Our client, a government agency specialised in cancer control and care is recruiting a Senior Scientific Officer. The Senior Scientific Officer will be responsible for providing high level strategic advice and recommendations to the CEO and across the agency to help assist decision making and guide best practice in the management of cancer.
Reporting to the General Manager, you will analyse, interpret and translate the latest scientific cancer research and data to inform policy and practice, and to provide information and expert advice on cancer control to governments, health professionals and the community.
Other responsibilities will include:
- Providing high level, strategic direction on the integration of evidence translation and research into the Agency’s strategic goals and business planning.
- Leading complex high level initiatives in evidence-translation for the agency.
- Provide technical advice and expertise in relation to agency-wide initiatives and evidence-based specific projects across the Agency, including:
- Developing and maintaining relationships with key stakeholders and organisations.
- Other specialised technical support and advice as directed by CEO and Executive Director.
In order to be considered for this role, you will have the following skills and qualifications:
- PhD educated or equivalent
- A minimum of 6 years of experience in cancer research in an academic or clinical setting
- Previous experience in a health related government agency.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to liaise internaly and externally with mutiple stakeholders.
- Strong ability to influence without authority
- Strong project management skills and previous experience managing budgets
- Strategic thinking and analytical skills
