About the Role
Reporting to the Marketing Manager, this newly created Product Technologist position is part time at 3 days per week (generally 9:30am to 3pm) and will be an integral member of the Marketing team, focusing on new product development. The role encompasses, but is not limited to:
- Formulating and developing new products across all J.C.'s Quality Foods categories
- Developing flavours, inclusions and additives for new products
- Conducting pilot scale trials
- Liaising with ingredient suppliers, customers and internal stakeholders (Marketing, Procurement, Production, QA)
- Conducting raw material, final product and in process physical, chemical and microbiological tests
- Preparing documentation for recipes, specifications and product instructions alongside the Marketing, Quality and Operations teams
- Recipe development and testing
- Evaluating raw materials and ingredients for functionality, suitability and quality for use in new or current products
- Ensuring continuous improvement activities
- Maintaining current market trends and up-to-date product information and compliance to Australian standards
- Responding to technical requests in a timely manner
About You
The successful candidate will possess a high level of communication skills, the ability to work cross functionally, strong logical and lateral thinking, with a demonstrated capacity for innovation. You will ideally possess:
- A Food Science or related Degree
- Nut or similar industry experience (desirable)
- Strong knowledge of product and flavour development, processes and trends
- Proven project management experience in relation to new product development
- Knowledge of quality assurance, compliance, Australian and export regulations and product testing practices
- Experience in successfully managing product cycle from concept to launch
- Ability to operate a range of laboratory instrumentation and pilot plan equipment
- Capability to create and develop accurate and concise related documentation
- Ability to build and maintain solid relationships with both internal and external customers
- Ability to work to changing environments and deliver to deadlines with a proactive and reactive approach
The Product Technologist will compliment the Marketing and QA team by providing greater technical support, knowledge and credibility to NPD projects for our key account customers. This position will also ensure a robust NPD process, resulting in quality new product launches.
