Advitech Environmental is seeking a senior ecologist with established consulting experience. The role will suit a highly motivated individual with effective communication and problem solving skills. The position would suit individuals with advanced technical abilities and strong communication skills.
The role will include the following activities:
- Providing advice on flora and fauna management approvals processes
- Providing advice on practical biodiversity design solutions
- Collection, compilation, presentation and evaluation/analysis of ecological data
Essential Skills - to be successful, you will possess the following:
- Working knowledge of relevant NSW and Australian legislation and guidelines, and of Australian and International standards, in particular a sound understanding of the requirements of the NSW Biodiversity Conservation and Environmental Panning and Assessment Acts
- Successfully completed and become accredited under the Biodiversity Assessor Accreditation Scheme to apply the Biodiversity Assessment Method (BAM) and to undertake assessments such as that required for Biodiversity Development Assessment Reports and Biodiversity Stewardship Site Assessment Reports
- Experience and understanding of Roads and Maritime standards and guidelines will be highly regarded, as would experience with smaller to mid-scale private developments, as well as having accreditation to undertake bushfire assessments
- Tertiary qualifications in environmental science or science with a major in botany, zoology, biogeography and or ecology
- Extensive experience utilising GIS (MapInfo or the like)
- Business development acumen with the ability to maintain existing client relationships and create opportunities for growth
- Technical competency with recent experience across a range of sectors and project scales, with working knowledge of consulting practice and extensive project management skills
- Good organisational skills and a demonstrated history of successful project management
- Experience in the efficient preparation, submission and management of specialist biodiversity assessment reports
- Experience developing proposals and compiling detailed estimates of works
- Good interpersonal skills, the ability to work collaboratively within a team, and a desire to provide mentoring and coaching to other staff members
- Minimum 5-10 years of experience in environmental and biodiversity management
- Ability and willingness to undertake field work as required
- Current driver’s licence, Senior First Aid Certificate and WHS green/white card
