About the business and the role

An exciting opportunity exists for a Graduate GIS Analyst to join the Astron Environmental Services team in our East Perth office. The successful candidate will provide GIS support within our growing Geospatial team, comprising remote sensing and GIS specialists.

The Geospatial Team comprises GIS and remote sensing specialists that together deliver remote sensing products complementary to and supporting the diverse range of ecological and environmental projects managed by Astron. Job tasks and responsibilities

The primary role of the Graduate GIS Analyst will be to provide GIS support to Astron's project teams, using a variety of GIS software applications (including ArcGIS and QGIS) for cartography, the creation, management and analysis of spatial data, and deployment of data collection devices.

To be considered for this role you should have a tertiary qualification in Spatial Sciences and be able to clearly demonstrate your cartographic skills. 

Reporting to the Manager - Geospatial your required tasks will include:

  • The provision of high quality mapping, spatial analysis and spatial data products
  • Deployment and maintenance of GPS devices for field navigation and mapping
  • Assisting scientists in field studies and reporting.

In addition to the key roles mentioned above, you must be:

  • Team focused and enthusiastic
  • Able to work efficiently to meet deadlines
  • A good communicator, both verbally and written
  • Have a high level of computer literacy and basic statistics
