The position will require a hands-on Laboratory Manager that will report directly to the Quality Manager at Alkaloids of Australia. The laboratory operates within a GMP pharmaceutical manufacturing facility and is TGA regulated.

Responsibilities will include:

  • Management of a Laboratory associated with the manufacture of non-sterile, active pharmaceutical ingredients.
  • Providing technical and practical support to a small team
  • Performance monitoring
  • Scheduling the daily work load
  • Maintaining relevant documentation
  • Meeting all Quality Control requirements

The successful applicant will be able to demonstrate the following minimum requirements:

  • Tertiary qualifications in Science with preference for a Chemistry background
  • Excellent people management skills with previous experience in the management or supervision of staff within a laboratory environment
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to liaise with other departments
  • Experience with wet chemistry and the ability to carry out analysis as required
  • Demonstrated experience with analytical instrumentation including HPLC, GC and GCMS with the ability to carry out hands-on trouble shooting and maintenance
  • Experience in method development and validation of analytical methods
  • Experience and knowledge of GLP and maintaining a quality management system
  • Previous experience in a pharmaceutical or chemical environment  – preferred but not essential
  • Knowledge of Good Manufacturing Practices within a TGA regulated environment  – preferred but not essential
  • A strong dedication to being a team player to achieve the best organisational outcomes
