Laboratory Assistant – Permanent Part-time

Monday to Friday - from 7:00am to 12.00pm
An opportunity has arisen for a Laboratory Assistant to join Envoi Specialist Pathologists - a private Histopathology practice dedicated to Gastrointestinal and Hepatic Pathology.
Established in Brisbane in 2007, our pathologists have a national and international reputation for provision of excellent service and world-class research. Working closely with referring Gastroenterologists and Surgeons, we aim to enhance the care of patients by providing a timely and accurate pathology service.
The Laboratory Assistant will report to the Practice/ Laboratory Manager, and work closely with the Laboratory Scientists to assist them with:
- Slide sorting;
- Data entry;
- Routine slide staining; and
- other duties as directed by the scientific team.
This role is classified as a Support Services Employee, Level 1-2, under the Health Professionals and Support Services Award 2010.
The Laboratory Assistant role would ideally suit a candidate who has an interest in commencing or continuing a career in a pathology practice.
The successful candidate will demonstrate strong interpersonal skills – (both written and verbal communication), and will possess the following:
- Ability to work independently and as a team member under supervision;
- Ability to prioritise tasks, work to meet targets and deadlines, and manage own time effectively;
- Excellent telephone manner;
- Strong attention to detail;
- Experience in working with medical terminology is highly desirable;
- The candidate will also possess advanced competency in Microsoft Office.
