About the role

NGH is seeking an Environmental Consultant with a minimum 4 years' experience to work from our Newcastle office. You will have tertiary qualifications in Environmental Science or Natural Resources Management.

This role involves the delivery of environmental impact assessment and construction environmental management. The position is in our Hunter and North Coast office, in Newcastle. You will work on a variety of projects, including renewable energy (solar and wind), road and rail infrastructure, water delivery infrastructure and urban development.

You will use your knowledge of environmental legislation to provide clients with advice. You will work with discipline experts to minimise impacts and deliver projects. You will work alongside specialist subconsultants across a range of disciplines.

You will complete field work, prepare reports, liaise with clients and assist with costings of projects. You will use skills and ethics to deliver a high standard of work. You will use legislation, policy and science to justify your decisions. This pivotal role provides the core services of our company.

Main Duties

  • You will have a excellent knowledge of understand environmental impact assessment documents prepared under State and Federal legislation and use this knowledge to independently undertake assessments such as REFs and SEEs
  • Prepare environmental management documents such as CEMPs, ESCPs, EMS's
  • Manage and participate in project teams including ecologists, archaeologists, and acoustic and contaminated site staff or external sub-consultants
  • Manage projects within cost, time and quality objectives
  • Liaise with clients and stakeholders
  • Prepare proposals and costings
  • Administer projects in accordance with NGH's management systems
  • Use subcontractor management processes and assist administration staff with documents
  • Participate in the WHS, hold WHS discussion, identify WHS risks and controls and cooperate with WHS actions

Selection Criteria

  • Tertiary qualifications in Environmental Science or Natural Resource Management
  • Demonstrated experience (minimum 4 years) in environmental impact assessment and or environmental management in Australia
  • Demonstrated experience with GIS
  • Ability to manage budgets and meet deadlines
  • Knowledge of NSW and Federal environmental legislation and policy
  • Excellent communication skills – verbal and written
  • Commitment to WHS participation and training
  • Drivers licence
