An exciting opportunity has arisen for an empathetic, commercially-astute Village Manager to join us on a permanent basis at our Rowes Bay Retirement Community in Townsville. The role reports to the regional Village Operations Manager and will also assist in supporting sales.

As the Village Manager, you will be responsible for supporting the residents, creating a positive, safe and people-focused community culture, delivering performance and creating the best villages and lifestyle solutions for our residents and their families.

This role would be ideal for people with management experience in customer industries such as hospitality or retail.


About the role:

  • Plan and manage the village budgets in accordance with agreed objectives.
  • Manage sales enquiries and negotiate and prepare sale contracts to achieve settlement and occupancy targets. 
  • Research, analyse and present statistical information, reports and forecasts to support business decision making.
  • Lead and facilitate building a positive community culture within the village and enhance links between residents and the wider community.
  • Facilitate and attend meetings.
  • Support the resale of retirement units and manage incoming and outgoing resident requirements.
  • Support and optimise the occupancy rate within the village to ensure the annual target is achieved.
  • Identify and develop opportunities for value added services within the village, including that of meal provision, Wellness Clinics and Programs from At Home Services or other providers.
  • Undertake regular audits and inspections to monitor the amenity of the village.   


 What do we need from you?

  • Demonstrated strong leadership and relationship building skills.
  • Preferred tertiary qualifications in business management, hospitality, marketing, property or related field.
  • Strong written and public speaking communication skills.
  • A passion and empathy for senior Australians, with an eagerness to actively liaise and interact with residents, family members and resident committee groups.
  • Sound understanding of the Retirement Village Act, or a demonstrated ability to work with legislation.
  • Proven customer-centric philosophy combined with an ability to “get things done”.
  • Successful background of liaison between clients (internal and external), contractors and consultants, to achieve optimum outcomes.
  • Demonstrated planning and budgeting experience.
  • Sound competence with computers, specifically MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
