Our client is based in Logan and is seeking a Property Officer within their Corporate Property team commencing 9th July 2018.  
 
The contract is up until 21st December 2018 working 36.25 hours per week between the hours of 8am to 5pm.
 
The purpose of this role is focused on providing assistance to a high number of acquisition negotiations over the next 6 months. You will be heavily involved in management of the property aspects of project acquisitions such as negotiation compensation, drafting of compensation and resumption agreements, preparation of easement documents and managing compulsory acquisition processes as required.
 
Key Responsibilities:
  • Negotiate with property owners for the acquisition of land and buildings for community facilities and the acquisition of easements for the protection of public services.
  • Negotiate compensation settlements on behalf of Council and to act in accordance with Council's best interests at all times during the course of all such negotiations with the final result being confirmed by Council.
  • Prepare documentation for property purchases, sales and resumptions, in co-operation with Council's solicitors.
  • Oversight of the negotiations concerning hire and rental of Council properties.
  • Preparation, in conjunction with other Branches involved in particular projects and the Land Acquisition Plan/Land Acquisition Program as part of Council's annual budget process.
  • Coordination of applications for the development of telecommunication facilities on Council-owned or controlled land and the establishment of the associated lease or licence.
  • Undertake any other duties as are reasonably within the limits of the employee's skills, competence and training.
 
In order to be successful for this role, you will possess the following:
  • Demonstrated working knowledge and experience in property acquisitions and disposals in a local government environment. Appropriate diploma qualifications (valuation and/or land economy/management disciplines) and / or qualifications suitable for acceptance into the Australian Property Institute will be highly regarded.
  • Substantial experience in all facets of property portfolio management in a large organisation.
  • Demonstrated working knowledge of legislation relevant to the acquisition and disposal of land preferably in a local government environment.
  • Effective written communication skills including experience in the preparation of reports and documentation for submission to Council and the preparation of external correspondence.
  • Demonstrated effective oral communication skills including the ability to negotiate effective outcomes.
  • Well-developed time management and organisational skills consistent with a high volume workflow environment.
  • Demonstrated competence in the use of computer software packages.
  • Be self-motivated and demonstrate ability to deal with other officers with tact, understanding and encouragement in performance of duties.
 
Working with this high profile organisation, your hourly rate will be $44.10p/h + Super.
