As the key Senior Associate in this team, you will essentially be the Partner’s 2IC. Coming from a global firm background, part of the motivation around the move to this national was lifestyle driven; aiming to get more balance and time with the family. Well resourced, the prevailing home time here is around 6.30. Yes, there will be pockets of later nights on a project need basis, but that is certainly the exception rather than the norm.

There is a sponsor side leaning to the practice, with principal purchaser and government clients. Local and Commonwealth levels dominate, with some off panel at the State level; positioning the team well for the panel renewals next year. The partner has prior representation on these. There will also be contractor side, acting for private developers.

The matters will be varied and interesting, spanning traditional construction and some interesting, atypical projects matters. Recent involvement includes acting in relation to water projects, the roll out of wifi infrastructure and the redevelopment of a notable city centre site.  Included will be procurement, tendering (and pre-tender), contract negotiation (standard and bespoke) and some probity advices among others.

Culturally, this is a firm that values the Special Counsel title and encourages growth. With the C&E team currently leaning towards the back-end in Partner count, there is room for progression in the front-end.
