THE OPPORTUNITY

Working closely with Ampcontrol’s Group Legal Counsel, this role will primarily take responsibility for reviewing, drafting and negotiating a variety of construction and commercial contracts.  You will have a demonstrated ability to work autonomously and you will also be responsible for making critical decisions on a wide variety of legal and commercial matters for the national and international Ampcontrol business. As a Senior Lawyer you will be a key advisor across the business, as well as a mentor to other team members in the Commercial Services team.

WHAT YOU’LL DO

Working as a senior member of a collegiate and dynamic team on a wide variety of high profile matters, you will:

• Manage the timely review and negotiation of  commercial and construction contracts, insurance and lease negotiations;
• Strong negotiation and project management skills;
• Provide advice and recommendations to management on a broad range of legal issues and best business risk positions;
• Provide legal and commercial advice and instruction to management, staff and internal clients on legislative and legal matters;
• Ensuring the Company conducts its business in compliance with all applicable laws and regulations (including but not limited to those applicable to the operation of an ASX listed public company);
• Manage and build relationships with external law firms and stakeholders;
• Work with the Group Legal Counsel on contract and legal disputes; and
• Mentor and support junior team members on legal, commercial and contractual matters.

WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR

Your high level communication and negotiation skills, as well as natural ability to think outside the box to get the best possible outcome, will be complemented by:

• Admission to practice as a solicitor within NSW (and possession of a current NSW Practising Certificate);
• 6+ years’ experience working in a similar position (either within a well-regarded private practice firm, in-house role or a combination of both), with sound commercial principles and proven initiative to undertake and resolve complex legal, commercial and contractual matters;
• Solid advisory and contract review skills;
• Proven skills in analysis of commercial issues and negotiation of commercial deals and sound commercial acumen;
• Knowledge of property, facilities management and procurement;
• Experience with an IPO process and/or experience with ASX listing disclosure requirements or advising publicly listed companies (advantageous).
