Your Role
The role will include all aspects of construction law including front end and back end work, with initially a primary focus on litigation. The litigation work will include a varied mix of commercial construction disputes including adjudications, subcontractors' charges, QBCC infringements, developer disputes and domestic building disputes. The front end work includes contract drafting and review for commercial and homeowner clients.
What you need
The role requires:
- 5+ years' experience in building and construction law;
- An excellent understanding of commercial construction law (especially security of payment);
- An understanding of domestic building law is preferred;
- A good understanding of the construction industry, including the trades;
- A willingness and commitment to advance and extend your knowledge and skills;
- An ability to determine multiple competing complex issues;
- Forward thinking with a proactive and "can do" attitude;
- Ability to easily and quickly adapt to a variety of work and change;
- Ability to work in a team or individually with Principal oversight;
- High level of attention to detail;
- An ability to initiate tasks and set the pace required to achieve the desired results;
- High emotional intelligence, with an ability to connect and empathise with a wide range of clients.
