The role

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Legal Assistant to work in our Melbourne Workplace Relations, Employment and Safety team. Supporting a Partner and Senior Associate you will display a willingness to learn and have experience working in a WRES team or have litigation experience. You will be regarded as an integral member who will provide superior administrative support and a variety of ad-hoc duties.

Responsibilities will include the following:

  • Extensive diary management and ownership of the team;
  • Attend to PA duties and work independently;
  • Be active on files where required;
  • Ability to manage client relationships well;
  • Take instructions from clients on behalf of the team;
  • Preparation and reconciliation of expenses;
  • Managing and preliminary preparation of simple court forms and online filing;
  • Opening and closing of files;
  • Organising events & functions;
  • Billing; and
  • File management.

The ideal candidate will have solid Legal Assistant experience with excellent communication and organisation skills, with a client service focus. You will be proficient in MS Word and formatting, and have the ability to prioritise tasks, display initiative, and have exceptional attention to detail. A professional outlook, backed by an ability to multi-task and thrive in a fast-paced environment whilst demonstrating a positive can-do attitude would see you fit in well with the team.  The core office hours are 8.30am to 5pm, however extra hours may be required when necessary.
